Everyone Eats Real Whole Food, Don’t They?
We should all be eating real whole food but I think that with the industrial revolution and the influx of processed foods too many of us live on factory made, factory farmed & factory processed fast foods.
My Reason For This Site
The reason for creating this website is to share my journey of learning to Eating Real Whole Foods… You might ask what do you mean by Real Whole Foods?
What Are Real Whole Foods?
Real Whole Foods are foods that are grown in the ground or on the land and have not been processed or broken down into something new in a factory. It is food that is lovingly grown or raised with your own hands or the hands of a trusted friend or a farmer.
Real Foods Can Come From The Grocery Store
I am not saying that Real food cannot come from a grocery store. What I am trying to get across is Real Whole Foods are foods that come from the ground and have not been unhealthily (is that a word?) processed, preserved, and packaged into something new, with an indefinite shelf life.
Real Whole Foods Include
I think Real Whole Foods Include; Fresh, Frozen, Sprouted or Fermented Fruits, Vegetables, Fungi (mushrooms), Beans, Seeds, Grains, Insects (I am still working with this idea), Meats, Fish, Poultry & Diary. Dairy that includes any dairy product that you can tolerate; Milk, Buttermilk, Butter, Cheese, Yogurt or Kefir.
Stevia Leaf and Fruits make great natural Sweeteners; I love to use Dates & Bananas to sweeten things…
Herbs & Spices
Of course, all Herbs and Spices, that come from plants are included. When you think about it, we have been blessed with so many different flavor profiles, giving us an assortment of flavors to soothe our demanding taste buds…
Then there is Salt, I think Salt has gotten a bad rap. Most of the salt we have access to in the grocery stores are processed in a way that depletes the healthy mineral inherent in Real salt. It is up to us to choose Real Salt that comes from high mineral content mines or salt from the sea that is minimally processed to retain its mineral content. Some, Salts that I like to use include; Redmond Real Salt, Pink Himalayan & Celtic Sea Salt.
Exception To The No Flour Rule
We need an exception to some things that are ground to a fine powder if grinding anything to a fine powder makes it a flour. I love Chocolate and make an exception in the case of Cocoa Powder. I don’t think cocoa powder has the same dangerous properties as flours made from grains, but I may find out differently. Currently, I understand dark chocolate to be high in nutrients, antioxidants and flavonoids. It is said to lower inflammation, bad cholesterol, prevent strokes and heart disease. It has so many benefits that it sounds like a super healthy food.
Real Whole Foods Do Not Include
Sugar, Flour, Corn Syrup, MSG, and the range of chemicals and preservatives that are used in processed foods.
Real Foods Are Not Cheap
Real foods are not cheap like mass processed foods are, but they are worth the extra expense. You will reap the benefits of eating whole foods by having more energy, better health and maybe less pain. It is possible that if you learn to purchase Real Whole Foods in bulk you could actually save money on your grocery bill.
Eating Real Whole Foods Does Not Mean
Eating Real Food does not mean all your foods have to be organic and farm raised, but if you can go for it… I know that eating organic and farm raised can be cost prohibitive for many… But if you can find a way, you will be healthier for it.
Eating real foods does not mean that you always have to eat foods that you have cooked yourself from scratch, but it does mean eating the best food you possibly can. Fresh is always best, if you have to eat packaged foods look for the best quality, you can afford. Look first for Frozen foods, then if you must canned foods. Look for canned foods in glass jars it is a better option than foods canned in metal.
Of course, canned foods are great in emergency situations, and properly home canned foods are probably the healthiest option at this time. We know that most foods packaged in metal cans are known to contain the chemical BPA, a known carcinogenic… These chemicals are often even in the healthier brands of canned foods.
You Don’t Have To Be Perfect
Some days you may not be able to Eat Real Whole Foods, and you don’t have to be perfect do the best you can with what you have. The longer and more you eat real foods the more you will benefit.
Who Am I?
Have you been wondering who I am? I am nobody really, I don’t have a Phd., or a College degree (even after 3 years being a full-time student). No long list of accomplishments that would impress anyone. My name is Karen Coghlan, I live in small town in Central Arizona. So many moons have passed over me that I have a grown Daughter and 12 almost grown Grandchildren. 3 Grandchildren by blood, and 9 by marriage to a very patient and loving Guy who tries his best to love me even when I feel unlovable….
Two years ago I became a blogger @ Blue Yonder Urban Farms. My interest at first was Homesteading and Urban Farming/Gardening, but it has evolved into other areas… Eating Real Whole Food & Building WordPress Blogs for other bloggers for example.

What I Believe
Does it matter what I believe? I think it does, knowing where I come from will help you determine if I am worth following or not.
Starvation dieting is a no, no, I think every adult needs at least 2,000 calories a day to have enough energy to get out of bed in the morning, and more if you want to do anything else… It’s possible that the optimum caloric range for a healthy adult should be in the 2,500-4,000 calorie range for an active person, and possibly more for some Men and extreme athletes.
Cravings are the bodies way of letting us know we are not eating enough or enough of something we need.
Low Starch Vegetables
Most of our food should come from high water content, low calorie, and low starch vegetables.
Bright Line Eating
I believe in Bright Line Eating, I learned of Bright Line Eating from Susan Peirce Thompson, Phd., In case you have not heard, Bright Lines are rules that are so clear that you never get confused so you know exactly what to do, there would be no need to make a decision every time the circumstances come up, and in time following your bright line rules become automatic. Like brushing your teeth.
Maybe you have quit a bad habit by making a Bright Line rule… Like never smoking again, or never eating Sugar & Flour.
Sugar & Flour Is Addictive
I believe what I learned from Susan Peirce Thompson, is based on real science. She taught me that Sugar & Flour when eaten, is processed in the brain in the same way as a drug, and has similar effects on the brain as if you had taken cocaine. It is addictive and the more you eat the more you want…
We Use Too Many Chemicals
I feel that as a nation we use too many chemicals, and they are harming our environment and ultimately our own health. Fragrance chemicals are the worst offenders, if you search the safe cosmetics site you will find that it is the fragrance that makes most products toxic. I believe that we all need to switch to non-toxic products, on our bodies, in our homes, and in our environments, for the sake of our health, the health of our planet and the health of future generations.
God Is Real
I Believe that there is a God and that he is busy working on his plan of escape. His plan for us to escape from this world full of hatred, crime, violence, sickness & death into a new world.
- That is made up of people who love each other, with a love that extends Earth-wide not just toward the people we look like.
- That over time becomes the paradise that he had originally planned for us.
- Where people never get sick, grow old, or die…
- Where dead loved ones will be resurrected back to life on our planet called Earth.
- With a heavenly government that will rule over righteous mankind in complete righteousness.
- With a government that puts mankind needs first without greed or selfishness rearing its ugly head…
- Where finally, True Love, Peace, Health & Happiness for all on Paradise Earth and all in the Heavens will be realized…
